Josie, Cats often don't show when they are feeling sick. Sadly, your kitty may have chosen to go into hiding....I didn't want to share that with you.... BUT there is always the chance that he will feel better and return! (We have had a cat do that.)
I don't know what type of community you live in. (We are rural). But if this fits your situation, you may want to set his kitty box outside and a piece of your dirty laundry. If he is within a half mile and CAN return, he probably will.
