The person I’m referring to is quite old and never dreams ( or doesn’t remember them even when younger) suddenly over past month has said she heard her mother’s voice calling her ( she doesn’t have dementia for the record) she is having a sudden flurry of hearing her mother’s voice call her name, and dreams of deceased distant relatives she barely knew asking her to visit them, it seems different than the type of contact from a close loved one after death if that helps give more context
